September Update
Hello everyone,
Thank you so much for reading my blog and partnering with me in campus ministry! I am so thankful for your generosity and prayers.
UNT Football Game with FOCUS
The beginning of the school year is such an exciting time. As campus ministers, it provides a neat opportunity to meet new students, introduce people to Jesus, and start building meaningful relationships. God has been so kind to me this year, and I’m excited to share a bit of that with you all.
So Many Baptisms!
We had four baptisms last week, which we are praising God for! Our students Chris, MJ, Nia, Grace, and Diana got baptized. I loved getting to hear their testimonies and learn the ways God has moved to bring about real, life-giving change! Also so thankful that these students have a loving community to help lead them closer to Jesus and become disciples who make disciples.
My Core!
As a reminder, core is what we call our small groups because it is the core of our ministry. Core is where we build friendships and lead each other to Jesus. I absolutely LOVE each of the girls in my core. They are thoughtful, fun, funny, and have a deep desire to become friends with each other and get to know Jesus better. I am encouraged by their love for one another and growing love for God.
One girl in our core, Emily, is a photographer and took some photos of our weekly small group. I thought I would show off some of her photos!
Focus on Jesus
One of my favorite parts of campus ministry is studying the Bible with students and forming personal friendships! One tool we use to accomplish this is through our one-on-one Bible study curriculum called Focus on Jesus (FOJ). So far, I get to study with Jazmine, Helika, and Savannah. I have enjoyed getting to know them and I’m inspired by their desire to grow closer to Jesus!
A story from Scripture that has been on my heart from this study is the story of Jesus healing the leper in Matthew 8. While people of their society kept people with leprosy as far away as possible, leaving them rejected and outcasted, Jesus physically reaches out His hand to heal the leper. Our God is a God who draws near to the sick, the sinners, the lonely. I find this to be deeply encouraging, and pray you also can encounter Jesus as the One who pursues the outcast.

Prayer Requests
- Pray for our upcoming Fall Retreat, happening October 19-20, that the students would decide to attend and that the Spirit would prepare their hearts for what God has in store for the weekend of fellowship with each other and God.
- Pray for all of the students and staff faithfully leading FOJ studies, that the Lord would continue to guide them to be faithful stewards of God’s Word and faithful friends to the people they study with.
Thank you for your generous support and making it possible to raise up this new generation of disciples. Your imitation of God’s faithfulness is bearing fruit! As always, please reach out if you have any prayer requests, questions or comments.
With love,
Cathryn
