CCF Mission Week

CCF Mission Week

Thank you all so much for praying alongside me for this special week. This week was so special because it was our CCF Mission Week! 15 college students of the Chi Alpha Christian Campus Fellowship (CCF) ministry in Bellingham, Washington came all the way to Denton, Texas to spend their spring break doing outreach with FOCUS on our college campuses (UNT, TWU, and NCTC). It was such a gift and honor to have them here. I’m so excited to share the adventures of the week and all the ways the Lord has moved!

Outreach

Outreach was such a neat experience. We got to pray with people, play games with people, have intentional conversations through thought-provoking questions, connect with them, and give away free candy, ramen, and soda (all the essentials for a college student!). We encountered some people who were deeply encouraged to hear that the Lord sees them and loves them!
We were so blessed by the Washington students. They are quick to listen, pray, and grew so much in confidence and boldness to approach people for outreach throughout the week!

Here are some stories below:

- One story that stands out to me is one of the Washington students, Tyler, got to meet and speak with an international student from India who is a Christian, and got to pray for him as he navigates how to share his faith with family members back home who may not be open to that.

- One girl named Macie had several long conversations with girls who identified as part of the LGBTQ+ community, hear their stories, and share the love of Jesus.

- Washington student Katie has a passion for ministering to Mormons because she grew up in the Mormon church, and was able to have neat conversations with some students who are Mormon.

- SO many students and specific situations were prayed for and cared for!

Praise the Lord!

Throughout this week, I’ve been reflecting on the parable of the sower (Mark 4:13-20). Ryan preached on this text at TNF, and highlighted how the farmer scatters the seed on all types of soil, not just the good soil. This may seem foolish at first glance. Why would one waste perfectly good seed to put on soil that the seed won’t take root in? Well, perhaps it isn’t a waste! I think this parable challenges how we view people. The fact is, we can’t know who will be open to Jesus at first glance. Oftentimes, the Lord chooses those we least expect. So, we scatter seed and trust that the Lord will take care of the rest!

Texas TNF

FOCUS students had a blast getting to meet the Washington folks and give them a big Texas welcome! Naturally, we had to make everything Texas-themed to make the most of this experience.
Everyone came in their best country gear, practiced our yee-haws, worshiped the Lord, and ended the night learning line dances.

Sight-Seeing Day

We got to visit the Fort Worth Stockyards!

Fort Worth Water Gardens

Abbey and Katie (CCF girls I got to drive around and know pretty well! They’re the best!

Enjoying Texan barbecue (some for the first time)

Texas Sunset

Buc-ee’s (they loved it!)

Overall, this was an effortful yet amazing week. I wouldn’t have been able to be a part of it without your generous support. Thank you!

Prayer Requests

- Pray that the seeds that were planted this week will bear fruit, at our Denton campuses and up in Washington
- As the end of the semester is rapidly approaching, pray that our staff and students may finish the year well, being good stewards of what the Lord has entrusted to us.

Thank you for your generous support and making it possible to raise up this new generation of disciples. Your imitation of God’s faithfulness is bearing fruit! As always, please reach out if you have any prayer requests, questions or comments.

With love,
Cathryn
