Weeks of Welcome

Happy August!

I have (so many) photos to share with you all that capture some special moments from these past couple weeks of outreach with students officially back on campus. I hope you enjoy them and realize you are an integral part of why we get to join the Lord in building His kingdom at UNT and TWU in this way. Thank you for your faithfulness and generosity to me and partnering with what the Lord is doing in Denton. The Lord is using your faithfulness to abundantly bless others and draw more people to Himself, the only source of life!

Meet My Peer Team!

A good portion of my time this year will go to supporting, praying with, and mentoring six girls who are leading three small groups. They will be leading together in pairs. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the lingo, our small groups are called “cores” because they are the core of our ministry! The students who facilitate these groups are called “core facilitators” (corefas). Meeting with corefas is one of my deepest joys. I love getting to make disciples who make more disciples! Feel free to be praying for them by name :)

During our first student leader meeting after two weeks of campus outreach, I asked our corefa team, “Raise your hand if you are feeling tired.” Almost every hand went up!

It’s incredible how, in just a couple of weeks, our students have met so many of their peers, invited them to events and cores, checked in on how they’re doing, and listened to their stories. It’s hard work, but thanks be to God, it is not in vain.

One of our students, Chloe, share something powerful: “What a gift it is to be tired because we are loving people and building the kingdom of God!” Couldn’t have put it better myself. We went on to read Matthew 11:25-30, and see the invitation Jesus gives us to come to Him when we are feeling weary or burdened, and He promises to give us rest.

Pray that we will not grow weary in doing good, but continue to be good stewards of what the Lord has entrusted to us. May these students experience the joy of the Lord as their strength!

With love,

Cathryn
