A September Full of Smiles
Hello friends!
I am so thankful for each of you. Your partnership in what the Lord is doing on campuses in Denton means so much to me.
If there’s one thing I have been especially grateful for this month, it’s the gift of smiling. Even through life’s sorrows, the Lord loves us deeply and gives us many reasons to rejoice. I’m reminded of Philippians 4:4-5 where Paul says “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.”
September smiles looked like: celebrating Layla’s baptism, enjoying the sunset with girl corefas, playing UNO (and winning ;) ), preaching Mark 10, cooking yummy meals, laughing with friends, and the list goes on!
Layla got baptized!!!
I get to meet with Layla each week as her Peer Team Leader. She is such a joy to mentor! She is a deep thinker and cares deeply about people. I am overjoyed at her decision to get baptized!
So many of Layla’s friends came to support her, pray over her, and glorify God for the outrageously generous gift He has given us of being made new in Him. Also, Layla’s dad came all the way from Houston to be there! He spoke such meaningful words that echoed how the Lord has been working for generations leading up to that day. It left many of us in tears of joy. Praise God!
The Mission: Making and Maturing Disciple’s to the Glory of God
The mission of FOCUS centers around Matthew 28:18-20, the Great Commission. We are committed to making disciples who go on to make more disciples and help them mature in their faith. One wonderful opportunity for this is focusing on developing our student leaders (corefas). The girl corefas got to meet with the women staff at Shayla’s house a couple weeks ago. They shared what the Lord has been teaching them lately (while enjoying the beautiful sunset above!) and we got to talk about wisdom and discernment in ministry. Be praying for them as they boldly share the love, truth, and beauty of Jesus to their peers.
Girl corefas hanging out after our leader meeting
A group of us gals meeting Wednesday nights to watch a show together- so much fun!
Thursday Night Fellowship (TNF) After Hangs!
At TNF, we have been doing a sermon series on the Gospel of Mark. I got to preach about Mark 10. These sweet girls who graduated last year came to visit me! Couldn’t ask for better friends.
Leader Meeting- here’s everyone intently listening to Ryan’s words of wisdom
COMING UP IN OCTOBER…
We have our annual Fall Retreat Weekend! This is an opportunity for students to retreat from daily life to become closer friends with each other, have a ton of fun, and dive deeper into their relationship with the Lord.
Please be praying for them to sign up! And for our staff as we plan and prepare for a wonderful weekend that will build momentum for the rest of the school year. I look forward to telling you all about it next month.
Thank you for your generous support and making it possible to raise up this new generation of disciples. Your imitation of God’s faithfulness is bearing fruit! As always, please reach out if you have any prayer requests, questions or comments.
