I hope everyone is staying warm! I am excited to share one of the greatest highlights of our January: Winter Retreat!
Winter Retreat 2026 was amazing! Each year, our staff spends countless hours planning, preparing, and praying for the Lord to move in big ways at retreat. And each year, He is faithful to do so. And He did it again! This year, we had almost 800 students from 14 campuses come to grow in faith and friendship. It was our biggest retreat yet, with about 200 from Denton!
This blog is filled with lots of photos, quotes, and deep gratitude for the seeds that were planted during our weekend. We are expectant for the fruit that will continue to grow in the lives of our students in the months and years ahead.
Worship! Brings me to tears of joy to see hundreds of college students praising the Lord.
Loved celebrating Laighton’s birthday at retreat!
Shaela and Kenzie’s core! Love these gals
Teaching time shenanigans
Mmesoma and friends playing board games
My roommate’s younger sister, Sophie, and her friend Ally from Collin Community College!
Our guest speaker this year was Marty Solomon. If you aren’t familiar with him, he works in Impact Campus Ministries up in Ohio and is a gifted teacher of the Bible, especially in taking us through the Scriptures in a Jewish context. Marty is one of my personal favorites, as I’ve been listening to his podcast, The BEMA Podcast, for many years. His teachings have deepened my love for God and appreciation of the beauty of the Scriptures.
Marty spoke on Genesis this weekend, rooting us in how beloved we are by God. Here are some key takeaways from Marty and retreat as a whole that I captured from some of our students:
Kenzie: “ Winter retreat was a fruitful time of worship, fellowship, and diving into Scripture. I got to look at Scripture, especially the book of Genesis, in a new light and diving into historical background, and I made deeper faithful friendships!”
Livia: “My main takeaway from retreat was the story of the blood path from Marty’s sermon on Abraham! It’s been on my mind a lot that God would fulfill our end of the covenant because He knows that we’re not faithful enough to maintain it. What a beautiful picture of the mercy and love of God in the middle of our humanity!”
Laighton: “A fun, fruitful, and fulfilling weekend full of new challenges and new connections!!”
Praise God! If you are interested in hearing what Marty had to say, you can listen at the following link:
Thank you for being a part of what the Lord is doing not only in Denton, but all of DFW and to the ends of the earth. Love you guys!
Cathryn
