20/60 Vision: 20 Seconds of Courage, 60 Years of Impact
February may have fewer days on the calendar, but it has been an incredibly full month in the best of ways!
One reason for this is we have been very excited to heat up the value of MISSION.
We did a survey and asked our students, “What comes to your mind when you hear the word outreach?” For many of them, outreach mainly looks like walking up to strangers and telling them about Jesus. For some, “real” outreach seems reserved for a select group of people, like missionaries or pastors, for those who have been called into vocational ministry.
But what if outreach includes more than the boxes we tend to put it in? What if outreach is about being faithful in the small moments, noticing people, and is a normal part of our daily lives that all of us are invited into?
We want to have 20/60 vision:
Not eyesight of course ;) The idea is that approaching someone on campus (or in general) only takes 20 seconds of courage. And that conversation may have implications on the next 60 years of their life!
We want to be people who notice others, as our God notices people. We can strike up conversations, whether that leads immediately to sharing the Gospel or simply sparks a conversation that makes someone feel cared for, gets them thinking, and blesses their day. We get to be a part of a work the Holy Spirit wants to do with us and through us for others!
We presented this vision to our students at Thursday Night Fellowship (TNF) and challenged them to each invite at least one new person to the upcoming TNF. They rose to the occasion!
