Spring Break Outreach Week 2026
Last week was a very special week. We welcomed 8 students and staff from the Chi Alpha ministry in Bellingham, Washington to join us in intentional outreach on our Denton campuses during their spring break. The week was such a blessing to our students! We got to try new outreach events, have neat conversations with people, and show these folks from Washington some southern hospitality. For many, it was their first time in Texas. One of the girls even got emotional as she took her first bites of Texas barbeque! Who can blame her, am I right?
Here’s some snapshots from the week:
The photo above was from our new outreach event, Shoe Cleaning! Inspired by Jesus washing the disciples’ feet in John 13, we got to “wash” students’ feet (aka clean their shoes) with magic erasers.
I got to meet a student, let’s call him Marcus. I asked Marcus about his experience as a student at UNT, where he explained he has struggled to make friends. I shared a bit about our ministry and how we would love to befriend him. From there we got to talking about faith. He was open about identifying as an atheist, but has many questions. He shared those with me and was surprised to learn that many people like myself who study science believe there is a God. As I was scrubbing his shoes, Marcus told me about a time when he was struggling to find a job, a stranger prayed for him and the next day he got a job offer. He knew that couldn’t be a coincidence. He was again in need of a job. So, I got to pray with him! I don’t know if I’ll ever see Marcus again, but I am encouraged by what the Lord has already been doing in his life.

Laighton and I finished our one-on-one Bible Study! Woohoo! Be praying for her as she continues to make disciples who make disciples!
